Brothers on Campus and in the Community

By Lauren Mohatt, Events Manager

Big Brothers Big Sisters is grateful to have so many wonderful partnerships with companies and organizations throughout our community. One in particular that I’d like to highlight is Creighton University’s Sigma Phi Epsilon (Sig Ep) fraternity.

Nationally, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been a partner with Sig Ep for many years, but our local agency began our formalized relationship with the fraternity back in 2016. The young men have taken initiative in their community and wanted to make more of an impact by forming the partnership with us. Since our local partnership began, Sig Ep has invited our staff to chapter meetings to speak about the mission, recruit fraternity brothers to become Bigs and they even put on an annual run to support our program.

Currently, Sig Ep has 23 Big Brothers in our program who serve as role models and friends to the youth they’re matched with. Despite their hectic schedules as college students, these men make a conscious effort to be there for their Little Brothers and empower them to reach their full potential in life.

Do you want to show support for their fraternity and BBBS this spring? Join us on Sunday, April 28th for their annual Run with a Heart 5k! Everyone is welcome to participate and, new this year, they will have a “Little Dash” for youth under the age of 14. Come enjoy the warm spring weather (fingers crossed) and support our organization! Funds raised from this event benefit our organization and help to match more youth in our community with mentors who will lead them on a path towards their biggest possible futures.

To find more details and register for the run, visit their event page here: Run with a Heart 5k.

We applaud the Sigma Phi Epsilon – Delta Chapter at Creighton University for their dedication and unwavering support of Big Brothers Big Sisters! Thank you!
