When my older son Camden came to live with me five years ago, he was already enrolled and participating in Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands and had been matched and visiting with his Big. My younger son Alex Jr. was interested in the process, so I contacted the agency. After an interview and waiting period, Alex Jr. was matched with Big Brother Andrew.  

The match support specialists are qualified, engaging, and knowledgeable team members. Andrew has been a phenomenal addition to our family’s support system for Alex Jr. as we strive to demonstrate equity whenever possible. Also, Big Brothers Big Sisters was a tremendous resource during the pandemic. Several monthly supply packages were made available to families with numerous essentials that benefitted us during this time.  

Any family, big or small, should take the opportunity to experience what Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands offers. Participating in this fantastic program has helped both my sons with self-confidence and understanding that even in an oppressive, antagonistic society towards them as young men of color, there are beacons of light and purity that genuinely seek to improve the communities they serve. Big Brothers Big Sisters is undoubtedly one of them!
